Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of losartan during 12 week treatment of hypertension. Methods 162 patients with essential hypertension were divided into treatment and control groups. The treatment group treated with losartan with 50 mg/d~100 mg/d for 12 weeks. The others received perindopril 4 mg or 8 mg daily for 12 weeks. The efficacy and safety were evaluated with clinical, biochemical and blood pressure parameters. Results Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring showed that compared with the pre-treatment states the SBP and DBP of the treatment were significantly reduced by (3.1±0.5)kPa、(2.1±0.4)kPa and (3.2±0.4) kPa、(2.3±0.5)kPa respectively. No change in heart rate, blood parameters and intolerance adverse effects were foud during the study. Conclusion losartan is an effective and safe agent for the treatment of hypertension.
