Abstract

Objective: To observe the effect of losartan in treating patients with essential hypertension . Methods: Sixty-six patients with essential hypertension were randomized to give losartan 50mg Qd(treatment group) and captopril 12. 5mg Tid(control group)for 6 weeks. The blood Pressure(BP) was measured twice a week and the efficscy was assessed by BP after 6 weeks therapy. Results: The BP was improved more significantly in treatment group than in control group (PO. 05). Conclusions:losartan is an effective and safe antihypertension agent in essential hypertension.
