Clinical Investigation of Trimetazidine on Ischemic Cardiomyopathy of the Patients

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Trimetazidine on the heart function in ischemic cardiomyopathy patients.Methods:Forty ischemic cardiomyopathy patients were divided into conventional therapy group(control group,20patients)and Trimetazidine therapy group(therapy group,20 patients).The control group patients were given basic treatment with digoxin,diuretics,angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI)or angiotensin Ⅱ receptor blocker(ARB),and β-blocker,the therapy group,in addition to the basic treatment,were given Trimetazidine 20mg PO tid.The therapy was kept up for 6 months.Heart function in ischemic cardiomyopathy patients was observed before and after L-carnitine treatment.Results:After treatment,left ventricular end systolic volume(LVESV)of patients decreased significantly and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)of patients increased significantly in L-carnitine group,accompanied by decrease in blood glucose level.But the changes of blood lipid were not significant.Conclusion:Trimetazidine can be used as adjuvant therapy to improve the heart function in ischemic cardiomyopathy patients.
