Clinical study on effects of trimetazidine on improving heart function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy

Abstract

obiective:To explore the effects of trimetazidine on heart function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.Method:21 cases took trimetazidine 20 mg after each of the three meals,besides routine therapy.Clinical outcomes were evaluated 4 weeks latter,left ventricular ejecting fraction(LVEF)and fractional shortening(FS)of echocardiography were measured before and after the treatment of trimetazidine.Result:11 cases( 53.4 %)were effective after the treatment,LVEF and FS increased from 0.42 ± 0.07 and 0.20 ± 0.06 to 0.53 ± 0.08 and 0.35 ± 0.05 respectively,with P 0.01 .There found no adverse reactions related to the drug.Conclusion:trimetazidine,which optimizes the pathway of energy metabolism in condition of myocardial ischemia,can improve the heart function in patients with ischmic cardiomyopathy,may be as an adjuvant drug for the disease.
