Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of trimetazidine on heart function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM). Methods: A total of 42 ICM cases took trimetazidine 20 mg after each of the three meals, besides routine therapy. Clinical outcomes were evaluated 4 weeks latter, left ventricular ejecting fraction (LVEF) and fractional shortening (FS) of echocardiography were measured before and after the treatment of trimetazidine. Results: Twenty two ICM cases (53.4%) were effective after the treatment, LVEF and FS increased from 0.41±0.04 and 0.20± 0.05 to 0.54±0.08 and 0.36±0.05 respectively(P0.01). There found no adverse reactions related to the drug. Conclusion: Trimetazidine can improve the heart function in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, may be as an adjuvant drug for ICM disease.
