Abstract

Objective To study the microvessel density(MVD)and the expression of heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)in gastric carcinoma tissues and its relationship with angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis of gastric carcinoma. Methods The tissue microarray and immunohistochemical method were adopted to detect MVD of HO-1 expression in 61 cases of human gastric cancer patients and the correlation between the expression level and clinical pathological features was analyzed. Results The MVD and the positive expression level of HO-1 in gastric cancer were higher than those in normal gastric mucosa(P0.05),and there had significant difference in tumor stage, histological differentiation, depth of invasion between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion MVD and HO-1 expression are high in gastric carcinoma, which may provide favorable conditions for angiogenesis and metastasis of tumor cells.
