Abstract
Objective To observe the efficacy of two different formulations of hand disinfectant containing alcohol in killing Candida albicans. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test and carrier quantitative germicidal test were used to carry out laboratory test. Results The average killing logarithm value of Candida albicans in suspension exposed to the stock solution of liquid-form disinfectant containing 75%(v/v) ethanol and chlorhexidine acetate 4500 mg/L for 0.5 min was 4.00.When the stock solution of the disinfectant was doubly diluted, the same germicidal efficacy could be obtained after exposure for 0.5 min.The average killing logarithm value of Candida albicans on carriers exposed to gel-form disinfectant containing 40%(v/v) ethanol and triclosan 12.0 g/L for 0.5 min was 4.00 and every test fulfilled the eligible requirement. Conclusions The two different formulations of hand disinfectant containing ethanol have quick killing effect on Candida albicans in suspension and on carrier.
