Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy of benazepril in combination with low dose hydrochlorothiazide in hypertension.Metheds Sixty hypertensive patients were randomly divided into two groups.Group A:benazepril alone 10 mg qd.Group B:benazepril 10 mg qd plus hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg qd.Both groups were treated for 4 weeks.Blood pressure, ambulatory blood pressure in 24 h,metabolic parameters, such as fasting blood glucose, blood lipid, uricacid, urea nitrogen and creatinine were evaluated before and after drug therapy. Results Total response rate in group B was higher than that of group A after treatment. No change in metabolic parameters was observed in both groups after treatment. Conclusion Benazepril in combination with low dose hydrochlorothiazide was more effective than benazepril alone in the treatment of hypertension. No adverse effect on metabolism was found.
