A Research on the Consonants, Vowels and Tones of the Changxing Dialect

The Wu dialect in the north of Zhejiang Province is a secondary one of the Wu dialect. The Deqing dialect is an important one of the Wu dialect in the north of Zhejiang Province. In the sound system of Deqing dialect, there are 28 consonants, 13 of which are voiced ones. There aren't any caumingal consonants of the Mandarin. There are 32 vowels, but there aren't any iu- class vowels. There is no [o], which exists in the dialects of other counties. There are 8 tones and the basic syllables regardless of the tones are 392. By describing and analyzing the sound system of the Deqing dialect, and comparing with the Mandarin, we find it very useful to study the di-alect and popularize Putonghua.
