Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor(IGF-1R) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in gastric adenocarcinoma tissue and its clinical significance.Methods The expression of IGF-1R and VEGF in 56 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma tissue,40 cases of atypical hyperplasia tissue adjacent to the cancer and 56 cases of normal gastric tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry.Results The positive rates of IGF-1R and VEGF in gastric adenocarcinoma tissue and in atypical hyperplasia tissue adjacent to the cancer were significantly higher than those in the normal gastric tissue(P0.05). The positive rates of IGF-1R and VEGF in gastric cancer tissues with lymphatic metastasis were significantly higher than those in the tissues of non-metastatic cancers(P0.05).The positive rates of IGF-1R and VEGF were increased by the degree of the invasion depth(P0.05).The IGF-1R expression correlated positively with the VEGF expression(P0.01).Conclusions The high expression of IGF-1R and VEGF in gastric adenocarcinoma tissue relates to carcinogenesis,development,invasiveness, and lymphatic metastasis of the gastric adenocarcinoma.IGF-1R and VEGF may play a synergistic role in the process of carcinogenesis and development of gastric cancer.
