A Socio-anthropological Research on the Foreign Culture Adaptation of Chinese Students in Japan

According to the field investigation of the Chinese students in Japan,the author takes a socio-anthropological perspective to study the relationship between Japanese basis,education experience and future work of a group of students from different parts of China.Three cases are analyzed with themarginal manconcept of different cultural adaptation described by Chicago School so as to probe into the practical problems caused by the conflicts in the foreign culture.The reasons can be found in individual psychology,Japanese language capacity,cultural traditions of China and Japan,and the different psychological models in China and Japan.However,the fundamental problems have not yet attracted enough at- tention among the Japanese educational circle.Therefore,despite the good learning environment in Japan,many Chinese students choose to go back to China or to another country after graduation.The government,universities,and society should work together to help foreign students to solve the problem of foreign culture adaptation.In this paper,the author suggests ways to solve the problem.The study will also help China to educate its overseas students in adapting foreign culture.
