On the Characteristics of Modern Chinese Students in Japan

In Chinese modern history of studying abroad,the students studying in Japan are different from the students abroad in America and Europe.The characteristics of them are mainly as the followings: Firstly,the number of them is roughly 70,000 nearly twice of the students studying in the other countries.Secondly,they have strong political characteristics.They mainly learn military affairs,politics and law,and they are also wild about translating books of western countries and engaging in political campaigns.Thirdly they have double views of Japan.Because of the edification of Japanese advanced culture and the stimulation of its aggressive policy,the students there are often in love-hate paradox.Finally,they make the greatest impact on the relations between China and Japan.Not only do the mass of them serve as the vanguard of the anti-Japanese struggle,but also is the diplomacy power with Japan of Nanjing government controlled by those returning students from Japan,which has determined the dual policy to Japan of compromise and resistance.
