Abstract
Objective To study the efficacy of statins in the treatment of atherosclerosis. Methods 136 patients were randomly divided into 4 groups, namely control group, simvastatin group, atorvastatin group and fluvastatin group, with34 patients in each group. The control group was given conventional treatment and dietary nursing; the simvastatin group was given simvastatin on the basis of conventional treatment; the atorvastatin group was given atorvastatin on the basis of conventional treatment; the fluvastatin group was given fluvastatin on the basis of conventional treatment. The carotid plaque size, lipid level, hs-CRP and IMT indicators before the treatment and half a year after the treatment of the 4 groups were observed and compared. Results In the 4 groups, the carotid plaque size, lipid level, hs-CRP and IMT indicators before the treatment were not significantly different(P0.05). After half a year′s treatment, the carotid plaque size, TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, hs-CRP and IMT levels of the simvastatin group, atorvastatin group and fluvastatin group were significantly different from those before the treatment( P0.05), but the indicators of the control group was not significantly different before and after the treatment. Conclusion Statins has good efficacy in the treatment of atherosclerosis, and efficacy of different types of statins is not significantly different.
