Comparative study of atorvastatin and fluvastatin in treatment of hypercholesterolemia

Objective To study the clinical efficacy and safety of atorvastatin(lipitor) and fluvastatin(lescol) on hypercholesterolemia.Methods One hundred patients with hypercholestrolemia were divided into atorvastatin group(n=50) and fluvastatin group(n=50).The lipid and safety was studied after treatment for 6 weeks.Results Atorvastatin and fluvastatin could significantly reduced the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C(P0.01 or P0.05).Atorvastatin was better than fluvastatin in reducing TC,TG,LDL-C(P0.05).Both agents increased HDL-C(P0.05) without significant difference between two groups.Both agents had little side-effect and good tolerance.Conclusion Atorvastatin is better than fluvastatin in reducing the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,but is similary in increasing HDL-C.Both agents have good reliability.
