Abstract

Objective To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of atorvastatin and simvastatin in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Methods A total of 110 patients with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into 2 groups: A(atorvastatin group,n=57) were given oral atorvastatin;B(simvastatin group,n=53) were given simvastatin.Principle of pharmacoeconomics was adopted to analyze the cost-effectiveness of the atorvastatin and simvastatin groups. Results At the end of the treatment, the costs were 752.80 yuan in atorvastatin group and 733.35 yuan in simvastatin group. In the reduction of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein, simvastatin was better than atorvastatin, and the cost-effectiveness ratio of simvastatin is lower than that of atorvastatin group. Conclusion Simvastatin is a better choice for the treatment of hyperlipidemia.
