Abstract
Human imitation is not just a kind of simple instinct behavior of copying,but a cognitive process of intentional learning and innovation.This paper discusses cognitive operative mechanism of imitation in linguistic memes from the viewpoint of cognitive linguistics.As imitation can be produced by human brain of afterthought with salient iconicity and projected isomorph of information which generate two types of linguistic memes of genotype and heteromorphosis cognitive schema.The research aims to reveal the cognitive basis of imitation and innovation in linguistic memes,which means much for the improvement of meme theory.
