Abstract

Richard Dawkins points out in his mematics that the passing-on of culture is realized by means of copying of memes in the way of replica and imitation. This paper explores the mechanism of copying of memes, exemplifying the analysis with the imitation of The Bible. It shows that the imitation concerning the copying of meme is essentially a cognitive activity of human beings. On the one hand, people tend to imitate those perceived in line with similarity and proximity;on the other hand, different people have different cognitive preferences in the course of imitation.
