Abstract
Objective To compare clinical applications of Mtwo rotary nickel titanium and stainless steel file for root canal retreatment so as to suggest a quick,thorough and effective method for root canal retreatment. Methods A total of 102 front teeth and 98 posterior teeth of 194 patients during January 2012 and January 2013 in our department were divided into group A1( Mtwo front teeth group,n = 51),group A2( Mtwo posterior teeth group,n = 49),group B1( front teeth of stainless steel file group,n =51) and group B2( posterior teeth of stainless steel file group,n =49). The preparation time,incidence rates of postoperative pain and quality of root filling in the four groups were compared. Results The preparation time in group A1 and A2 was significantly shorter than that in group B1 and B2 respectively( P 0. 05); the incidence rate of postoperative pain in group A2 was significantly lower than that in group B2( P 0. 05); the appropriate rate of root filling in group A1 and A2 was higher than that in group B1 and B2 respectively( P 0. 05). Conclusion The application of Mtwo rotary nickel titanium for root canal retreatment can relieve intraoperative pain,reduce operative time and improve effectiveness of root filling,compared with that by stainless steel file.
