Abstract
Objective To evaluate the MTWO Nickel-titanium instruments applied to molar root canal therapy. Methods A total of 126 teeth treated by root canal therapy from 2008 to 2009 were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group 72, control group 54, root canal respectively prepared by MTWO nickel-titanium instrument and stainless steel K file system,infection substances dredged and cleaned by sub-sodium chlorate solution and EDTA gel, filled by lateral compression technique. The root canal preparation and filling effect were valued according to the clinical operation time, postoperative X-ray film and pain. Results The average time for MTWO root canal preparation was 4 min10 s, significantly less than the control group (10 min 50 s); in the experimental group root canal had no deviation or the steps shaping, and could better maintain the root canal anatomy in early form; the control group had two cases of steps shaping; exact filling in the experimental group was 94.4%,significantly higher than that in the control group( 81.5% )(P 0.01); the pain of experiment group after three days was 4.2%,significantly less than that in control group(13.0% )(P 0.01). Conclusion MTWO Nickel-titanium instruments in root canal preparation can result in a very good maintenance of root canal anatomy and reduce postoperative pain, and it is time-saving and efficient.
