Abstract
From 2000 years ago,traditional translation standards have been sticking to the principle of pursuing the original meaning of writers.The theories of understanding and interpretation in Gadamer's contemporary hermeneutics shows the non-existence of the original meaning and the non-stop appearance of new meaning,thus proving this principle can't be applied to literary translation and providing a new perspective for translation research.
