The effect of negative symptoms of chronic schizophrenia with clozapine combination fluoxetine

Abstract

Objective: To compare the effect of clozapine plus fluoxetine on the negative symptoms of chronic schizophrenia. Methods: 78 chronic schizophrenia patients with mainly negative symptoms were randomly divided into study group and control group for 12 weeks. The study group was treated by clozapine plue fluoxetine, and the control group was only treated by clozapine. The clinical effect and side effects were assessed with PANSS, SANS and TESS before and after the treatment of 4th, 8th and 12th weeks. Results: The therapeutic efficacy in study group was significantly higher than that in control group. The side effect in study group was significantly lower than that in control group. Conclusions: Clozapine plus fluoxetine has better effect in treatment of negative symptoms.
