Expression and Significance of P53,P21~(WAF1) ,Cyclin E in Breast Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the biological features of breast carcinoma and analyze P53,P21 WAF1 and Cyclin E 's functions in the genesis,progression and metastasis of breast carcinoma by the examination of P73,P21 WAF1 and Cyclin E,and their relationship with clinical-pathological feature indexes.Methods: A total of 88 paraffin-embedded tissue preparations of breast carcinomas were observed by the use of immunohistochemical S-P method to examine the expression of proteins of P53,P21 WAFI and Cyclin E.Results:The postive expression rate of P53 in the group with lymph nodes metastasis was 76.92%, that of P53 in non-lymph nodes metastasis was36.73%. the former was higher than the latter, with significant difference.The positive rate in the group with lymph nodes metastasis was 23.08%,which was remarkably lower than that (46.94%)of non-lymph nodes metastasis.The difference was significant. The positive expression rate (55.07%) of Cyclin E in Grade Ⅱand Ⅲ cancer was higher than that(26.32% ) of Cyclin E in Grade Ⅰ,with significant difference. The positive rate of Cyclin E in the group with lymph nodes metastasis was 71.79%,which was higher than that(30.61%) of non-lymph nodes metastasis.The difference was significant. Conclusion: It revealed that P53 , P21 WAF1 and Cyclin E were correlated with the genesis and progression of breast carcinomas . The findings suggested that the expression of them might be a useful marker for predicting the lymph node metastasis, and, further, the prognosis of breast carcinoma.
