Expressions,correlation and clinical significance of Survivin and p53 protein in epithelial ovarian tumor

Objective To study the expression of Survivin and p53 protein in epithelial ovarian tumor tissues and their clinical significance.Methods The expression of Survivin and p53 was evaluated in 15 cases of benign epithelial ovarian tumors and 69 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer by immunohistochemical 2-step technique. Results ①The positive rates of Survivin in the epithelial ovarian cancer and the benign epithelial ovarian tumor were 60.9% ,6.7%(P0.05)and p53 were 43.5% ,13.3%(P0.05),respectively.The positive expression of the two proteins was significantly correlated with the property of a tumor(benign or malignant),clinical stage,the histological grade and lymphonodes metastasis of epithelial ovarian tumor(P0.05).②The expression of Survivin in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues was strongly correlated with that of p53(r=0.464,P0.05).Conclusions The overexpression of Survivin and p53 suggests that they may play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of epithelial ovarian cancer.Diagnosis and prognosis of the epithelial ovarian cancer can be carried out theoretically on the basis of this.Additionally,they may play a role in the pathogenesis of epithelial ovarian cancer together.
