Phacoemulsification and lens implantation for primary acute closure glaucoma

Objective To study the clinical results of phacoemulsification With intraocular lens implantation in the management of acute angle-closure glaucoma with cataract. Methods phacoemulsification with IOL implantation was performed on 46 cases(48 eyes) with angle-closure glaucoma and cataract was retrospectively studied from 2005 Feb to 2008 Mar.Preoperative and postoperative visual acuities,the depth of anterior chamber the angle of anterior chamber and intraocular pressure of each eye were recorded with following up ranged from 3 months to 3 years. Results Intraocular pressure after operation on 45 eyes became normal.The intraocular pressure of 3 eye wanted to be decreased with medication,Visual acuities in all the 48 eyes ware improved postoperatively.Conclusion The method ofphacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in treating acute angle-closure glaucoma with cataract was effective.
