Phacoemulsification and lens implantation for primary acute closure glaucoma.

Abstract
Objective To study the clinical results of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in the management of angle-closure with cataract.Methods Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation was performed on 57 cases (61 eyes) with angle-closure glancoma and cataract was retrospectively studied from 2001 Oct to 2005 Nov.Preoperative and postoperative visual acuities,the depth of anterior chamber,the angle of anterior chamber and intraocular pressure of each eye were recorded with following up ranged from 6 months to 2 years. Results postoperative visual acuities of 58 eyes were normal.3 eyes needed medicine.Visual acuities were improved. Conclusions Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in the management of angle-closure glaucoma with cataract is safe and effective.
