Abstract
Objective To detect the effects of phacoemulsification and lens implantation for chronic angle-closure glaucoma with cataract.Methods 22 eyes with chronic angle-closure glaucoma and cataract were performed phacoemulsification and lens implantation.The preoperative visual acuity was less than 0.1.Preoperative and postoperative visual acuities,the depth of anterior chamber,the angle of anterior chamber and intraocular pressure of each eye were recorded with following-up ranged from 3 months to 3 years.Results The mean postoperative IOP(15.42±3.87mmHg)was significantly decreased compared to preperative IOP(28.63±13.28mmHg,t=4.243,p0.05);The postoperative best corrected visual acuities were improved significantly in 15 eyes(68%).Conclusion Phacoemulsification with IOL implantation can be a good alternative in treating chronic angle-closure glaucoma with cataract.
