Clinical observation of phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation for angle-closure glaucoma and cataract

Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation in treating angle-closure glaucoma and cataract.Methods 80 cases(80 eyes)of angle-closure glaucoma and cataract patients underwent phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation.Intraocular pressure(IOP),anterior chamber angle,anterior chamber depth and visual acuity before and after operation as well as intraoperative and postoperative complications were observed.The follow-up time was 6 to 24 months.Resluts After operarion,the best corrected visual acuity improved in all 80 eyes.The mean IOP was 13.9(9.7~20.8)mmHg.Both angle and depth of anterior chamber increased.The main postoperative complication was corneal edema and anterior chamber reaction.Conclusion Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation is a safe and effective way to restore vision and control intraocular pressure in cataract patients combined with acute or chronic angle-closure glaucoma.
