Abstract

Used obtained montmorillonite( through treating with organic compounds)as the filler a montmoril-lonite/epoxy resin adhesive was prepared by intercalation combining. The adhesive properties (tensile strength, hardness and X-ray diffraction) were measured and compared to that of the adhesives with filler of fly-ash or untreated montmorillonite. When added organic montrnorillonite was 5% by mass fraction the shear strength for the adhesive reached 21. 6MPa. The results of XRD showed that the adhesive is a nano-scale composite of nano-montmorillonite and epoxy resin. From comparing of their mechanical properties and desities the synthetical properties of the epoxy adhesive containing organic montmorillonite are better than that of common epoxy adhesives.
