Expression of PCNA protein in tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinomas and its clinical significance

Objective To explore the protein expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in the tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinomas(CSCC)and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN).MethodsPCNA expression were examined by S-P immunohistochemical stain(IHC)method in samples of both tumor and normal cervical tissue of 92 CSCC patients and 40 CIN tissues.ResultsThe rate of PCNA positive expression were 82.61%(76/92)in CSCC and 33.33%(5/15),71.43%(10/14),81.82%(9/11)in CINI,CINII and CINIII groups,respectively.The positive expression was not found in normal tissues.The protein expression of PCNA in CSCC,CINⅡ,CINⅢ groups,were higher than that in CINⅠgroup(P0.01),but there were no significant difference between CSCC,CINⅡand CINⅢ groups(P0.05).ConclusionsThe expression of PCNA was correlated with the progress,histological graduation and clinical stages of cervical cancer,but has no correlation with age.
