Expressions and clinical significance of FHIT and MMP-2 in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder

Objective: To study the expressions of fragile histidine triad(FHIT) and matrix metalloporteinases 2(MMP-2) in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder(TCCB),and their relation with clinicopathological characters.Methods: Immunohistochemical staining S-P method was used to detect the expressions of FHIT and MMP-2 in 10 cases of normal bladder tissues,and 50 cases of TCCB tissues.Results: There were statistical significance between the expressions of FHIT and MMP-2 in normal group and carcinoma(P 0.05).The positive expression of FHIT and MMP-2 was significantly increased with stage( P 0.05),while the expression of MMP-2 was significant different with grade(P 0.05).Negative correlation was found between the expressions of FHIT and MMP-2(r=-0.362,P=0.01).Conclusion: Detection of FHIT and MMP-2 may have potential effects on the early diagnosis,treatment and prediction of prognosis of TCCB.
