Effect of Losartan and Valsartan on Uric Acid and α1-Microglobulin in Elderly Hypertensive Patients

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect of Losartan and Valsartan on blood pressure,uric acid(UA) and α1-microglobulin(α1-MG)in elderly hypertensive patients.Methods: Sixty elderly hypertensive patients were randomly divided into Losartan group(n=30) and Valsartan group(n=30).The sitting blood pressure,UA and α1-MG were measured before and after treatment.Results: After treatment,both systolic and diastolic blood pressures decreased significantly in two groups(P0.01);α1-MG after treatment in two groups and UA in Losartan group decreased significantly(P0.01);and level of UA in Valsartan group was not changed after treatment(P0.05).Conclusion:Losartan and Valsartan can effectively control blood pressure of elderly hypertensive patients,and both drugs have renal function protection.Losartan should be used in elderly hypertensive patients with hyperuricacidemia.
