The effect of Losartan on kidney function in elderly patients with hypertension

Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of Losartan on kidney function in elderly patients with hypertension.Methods 60 elderly patients with hypertension were divided into Losartan group and Peridopril group for 12 weeks.Blood pressure,BUN,Scr,blood β 2-MG and urinary β 2-MG were measured before and after treatment.Results After 12 week treatment,systolic pressure and diastolic pressure all decreased significantly in both groups.Compared to Peridoperi group,the reduction of diastolic pressure was more significant in Losartan group(P0.001).UA,blood β 2-MG and urinary β 2-MG all got decreased significantly after Losartan treatment,blood β 2-MG and urinary β 2-MG decreased after Peridoperil treatment.Conclusion Both Losartan and Peridoperil can reduce blood pressure effectively,and provide protective effect on kidney function in aged hypertensive patients,meanwhile Losartan can reduce blood UA.
