Abstract

A new catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of nitrite was developed The method is based on nitrite catalysed discoloring reaction of Amido black 10B by potassium bromate in phosphoric acid medium The optimum conditions were studied the linear range for the determination is 0~1μg/10ml and the detection limit is 4 88×10 -9 g/ml. The method has been applied to the determination of trace amount of nitrite in water samples with satisfactory results
