EXPERIMENTAL OBSERVATION ON GERMICIDAL EFFICACY AND TOXICITY OF TRICHLOROISOCYANURIC ACID DISINFECTION TABLET

Abstract

In order to know the germicidal efficacy and toxicity of trichloroisocyanuric acid disinfection tablet,suspension quantitative germicidal test and toxicity test were used to carry out experimental observation.Results: The reduction factor(log_(10)) of Escherichia coli,Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa exposed to the disinfection tablet solution containing available chlorine 250 mg/L for 15 min were 5.0 and the reduction factor(log_(10)) of Candida albicans was 4.0.The reduction factor(log_(10)) of spores of Bacillus subtilis var.niger exposed to the disinfection tablet solution containing available chlorine 2500 mg/L for 30 min was 5.0.The minimum eligible concentration for killing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in capacity test was 500 mg/L.The reduction factor(log_(10)) of E.coli on porcelain dish immersed in the disinfection tablet solution containing available chlorine 250 mg/L for 30 min was 3.0 and that of natural bacteria on surface of object exposed to the disinfection tablet solution containing available chlorine 1000 mg/L for 15 min was 1.72.The mouse oral LD_(50) of this disinfection tablet was 5000 mg/kg,indicating that it is practically non-toxic.It was negative in mouse bone marrow polychromatic erythrocyte micronucleus test.Conclusions: Trichloroisocyanuric acid disinfection tablet has relatively strong killing effect on vegetative forms of bacteria and spoces of Bacillus subtilis var.niger.Animal test showed that it belongs to non-toxic substances.
