Differences and Similarities of Associative Meaning of Color Words in Cultural Context of Chinese and English

Based on the analysis of the origins of cultural context and associative meaning of words,the paper discusses the similarities and differences of associative meanings of color words in intercultural context by means of contrast,and it indicates that due to the cultural differences between China and western countries, there are many differences in the use of colors and color words as well as in the understanding and mastering of the same color.Therefore,it is of practical significance to know and study the differences of associative meanings of color words for promoting intercultural communication.
