The clinical effects of Ulinastatin in patients with severe sepsis

Objective To investigate the efficacy of Ulinastatin(UTI)in patients with severe sepsis syndrome.Methods 42 patients with severe sepsis syndrome were randomly divided into UTI group(n=22)and control group(n=20).In the group of UTI,patients had Ulinastatin 600000 IU two times every day for 10 days.The same treatment was given to two groups.Temperature,respiration,heart rate and white blood cell,neutrocyte percent and other plasma biochemistry indexes were determined before the treatment and after the treatment.Results After the treatment,the levels of temperature,respiration,heart rate and white blood cell,neutrocyte percent were significantly decreased in UTI group(P0.05);plasma alanine amino transferase,aspartate amino transferase,blood urea nitrogen,lactate dehydrogenase and MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase were decreased in two groups after the treatment(P0.05),but the decreases of all these plasma biochemistria indexes were more marked in UTI group(P0.05).Conclusion UTI has beneficial effects in patients with severe sepsis syndrome.
