Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective mechanism and efficacy of ulinastatin(UTI) on multiple organ function in eldly patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Methods Sixty eldly patients with MODS were randomly divided into UTI group and control group. 200 000 units UTI were given, iv q8 h for 7days in UTI group. The same treatment was given to two groups. Tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and other plasma biochemistrial indexes were determined before the treatment and 8 days after the treatment. Result After the treatment, the level of TNF-α and IL-6 significantly decreased in two groups, and the decrease was more obvious in UTI group, compared with control group(P0.05); Plasma alanine aminotransferase(ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), creatinine(Cr), blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), creatine kinase(CK), and MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase(CK-MB) were significantly decreased in two groups after the treatment(P0.01), but the decreases of all these indexes were more marked in UTI group(P0.05). Conclusion UTI has beneficial effects on the protection of hepar, ren heart, in eldly patients with MODS.
