Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of risperidone in the treatment of chronic schizophrenia. Methods Sixty eight patients with chronic schizophrenia, were randomly divided into two groups, risperidone group( n =34) or colzapine group( n =34) for 8 weeks. The PANSS and TESS were used for evaluating therapeutic and side effects. Results The therapeuic effect of risperidone was ideal. The effective rate of risperidone was 64.7%,and colzapine was 61 8%.There was no significant difference between the risperidone and colzapine( P 0.05).However,the efficacy of risperidone treatment of negative symptom was better than that of colzapine ( P 0.05).The side effects of risperidone was in the fewer than colzapine. Conclusion Risperidone is both effective and safe in the treatment of Chronic Schizophrenia.
