Clinical Significance of Examining Serum Total Bile Acids in Cerebral Vascular Diseases

Abstract

Objective To study clinical significance of examining serum total bile acids(TBA) in diagnosis of cerrbral vascular diseases.Methods The serum TBA and blood lipid levels were measured in 29 cases of cerrbral infarction, 26 cases cerrbral hemorrhage and 30 cases non-cardiocerebral vascular diseases by enzyme method.Results Compared with the control group and cerrbral hemorrhage patients,the serum TBA levels were significantly higher in patients with cerebral infarction (t=6.78,3.40,P0.01).TBA levels in patients with cerrbral hemorrhage were also significantly higher than those in control group(t=3.87,P0.01).Conclusion Cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage showed positive correlation with serum TBA level.therefore,examining TBA level could be useful for the differential diagnosis between cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage.
