Abstract

Objective To observe clinical sigmificamce of treatment of early congenital syphilis pateints with ceftriaxone sodium and bicillin in combination. Methods There 113 patients with early congenital syphilis were divided randomly into the study group consisted of 57 cases and the control group consisted of 46 cases. The study group were treated with 2g of ceftriaxone sodium by venous injection for 10 or 15 days and 2.4 milliom units of Bicillin by intramuscular injection once per week for 2 or 3 times, while the control group were only treated with bicillin by intramuscular injection once per week for 2 or 3 times. Results The rate and the average time of TRUST negative conversion in the study group were 100% and 4.0 months respectively, while that of the contol group were 88.3% and 9.6 months respectivedly, showing sigificant differences between two groups(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion Combined use of ceftriaxone sodium and bicillin for treatment of patients with early congenital syphilis can apparently shorten the time of TRUST negative conversion.
