Abstract
The use of sodium hydrogen sulphate as catalyst on the esterification reaction of ethyl hexanoate was studied. The suitable conditions have been found. The optimum condition is selected as following: The weight of catalyst is.3 g/mol hexanoic acid, the mole ratio of alchol to acid is 2.5∶1 and the reaction time is 3.5 h,water is removed with 3A molecular sieve. The esterification of hexanoic acid is about 98.69%.Experimental results showed that sodinm hydrogen sulphate is a good catalyst of this esterification reaction, with high catalytic activity, the little amount used, the good esterification, little waste discharged.and low price. It is very valuable in practice.
