Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of cefdinir in the treatment of mild and moderate skin and soft tissue bacterial infections. Methods: 18 patients in study group were treated with cefdinir 100~200mg per oral three times a day and 18 patients in control group with cefteram pivoxil 100~200mg per oral three times a day for 7 to 14 days. Results: The cure rates and the effective rates of the two groups were 77.8%,72.7% (P0.05) and 94.4%,88.9% (P 0.05),respectively.The bacterial positive and eradication rates of the two groups were 83.3%,88.9% (P 0.05) and 93.3%,87.5% (P 0.05),respectively.Sensitivity rates of 31 bacterial strains to cefdinir, cefteram pivoxil, cefixime, cefaclor, amoxacillin and ciprofloxacin were 100%,100%,67.8%,86.5%,62.3% and 66.1%,respectively.Adverse events rates of the two groups were 0.0% and 6.25%,respectively.No significant statistic difference was detected between the two groups. Conclusion: The efficacy and safty of cefdinir in the treatment of mild and moderate skin and soft tissue bacterial infections is reliable.
