Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression of cytochrome P450 1B1 (CYP1B1) in epithelial ovarian cancer in order to provide theoretical basis of CYP1B1 as a novel target for the development of anticancer therapies. Methods: Fifty-three samples of epithelial ovarian cancer, 30 of benign ovary tumors and 19 of normal ovarian tissue were included in the study. Immunohistochemistry (SP method) method was used to detect the expression of CYP1B1. Results: The positive expression rate of CYP1B1 in epithelial ovarian carcinomas was 92.45%, which was significantly higher than that in benign ovarian epithelial tumors (13.33%, P 0.01). The normal ovarian tissues were negatively expressed. Thirteen of the 14 cases with metastasis of ovarian cancer showed positive expression, with a positive expression rate of 92.86%. Conclusion: CYP1B1 could be considered as a novel target for epithelial ovarian cancer therapy and drug resistance reversal agent.
