Abstract

Objective To study the expression of B7-H4 on epithelial ovarian cancer and to explore the relationship among different clinical and biologial features. Methods Using the immunohistochemistry PV-6000,we comparatively studied the expression on 70 cases of primary epithelial ovarian cancer,20 cases of normal ovarian tissue and 20 cases of benign ovarian neoplasm. Results B7-H4 cytoplasmic and/or membranous expression was detected in epithelial ovarian cancer. The positive rate of B7-H4' s expression in primary epithelial ovarian cancer, benign ovarian neoplasm and normal ovarian tissue were respectively 88.57%,45%and 0%.The differences were statistically significant. The B7-H4' s expression in epithelial ovarian cancers was relavant to differentiations, pathological types and whether lymph node metastasis or not.The differences were statistically significant. Conclusions B7-H4 overexpress in epithelial ovarian cancer, the lower differentiation the higher B7-H4' s expression, and B7-H4 expression enhanced in lymph node metastasis cases,so that B7-H4 should be further investigated as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for ovarian cancer.
