Abstract
Objective:To determine the clinical efficacy of Risperidone combined with Venlafaxine in treatment of depression.Methods:134 patients with depression diagnosed according to CCMD 3 were randomly assigned into two groups, one was treated with Venlafaxine alone and the other was with Risperidone combined with Venlafaxine for 9 weeks in order to evaluate the clinical efficacy and side effects with HAMD,HAMA and TESS after 2,4,6,9 weeks of the treatment. Results:There were significant differences in the decreased scores of HAMD,HAMA between the towo groups after 2,4,6 weeks of the treatment respectievely( P 0 01 AND P 0 05),wheras no difference was noted after 9 weeks. There was no difference in scores of TESS between the two groups after 2,4,6,9 weeks of treatment. Conclusions:Combination of Risperidone with Venlafaxine brought about a much better reponse than Venlafaxine alone. The advantages included: early response and fewer side effects.
