Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the therapeutic effects, safety and side effects of venlafaxine combined with small dosage of aripiprazole on treatment-resistant depression. METHODS 76 patients with treatment-resistant depression were randomly divided into treatment group (38 cases) and control group (venlafaxine only) (38 cases). All cases underwent 8 weeks treatment. Before and after treatment in the 2nd , 4th , 6th and 8th weeks, compared the score of HAMD, HAMA and TESS. RESULTS The scores of HAMD and HAMA were reduced in both groups (P﹤0.01). The scores of two groups were significantly different in the 4th week (P﹤0.05) , 6th and 8th weeks (P﹤0.01). CONCLUSION It demonstrates that venlafaxine combined with small dosage of aripiprazole could be more effective and safe.
