Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of fluoxetine in the treatment of post-stroke depression. Methods 64 patients with post-stroke depression were randomly divided into treatment group(fluoxetine treatment,n=32) and control group(conventional treatment,n=32).The curative effect was evaluated by the Hamilton rating scale for depression(HAMD),The index of activity of daily living(Barthel Index,BI),and Scandinavian Stroke Score(SSS).Results In treatment group, the HAMD was 15.1±1.4 after treatment, which was lower than 20.6±3.8 before treatment(P0.01).The SSS was decreased and BI was increased, comparing with control group, they had statistically significant difference(P﹤0.01).However the HAMD in control group was not significant difference prior and post treatment(P﹥0.05).Conclusions The antidepressant-fluoxetine in the treatment of post-stroke depression not only has remarkable antidepressive effect but also can improve the neurofunctional restoration.
