Abstract
OBJECTIVE The study was conducted to explore the effect of cognitive-behavioral intervention on the quality of life in patients with stroke. METHODS 116 stroke patients were randomly divided into an intervention group(58 cases) and a control group(58 cases). Patients in both groups were subjected to routine nursing care, and the intervention group was also treated with cognitive-behavioral interventions. The qualities of life of the patients in both groups were compared after 3months of intervention. RESULTS 3 months into the intervention, scores of the intervention group on all dimensions of quality of life improved significantly(P ﹤ 0.05) and the improvements, especially in physiological functions and physical pain, were significantly higher than that of the control group(P﹤0.01). CONCLUSION The cognitive-behavioral intervention has shown to improve mental and social functions, as well as the quality of life, of patients with stroke.
