Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of nursing intervention on the quality of life for elderly patients with stroke. Methods Seventy-two elderly patients with stroke hospitalized in General Hospital of Chengdu Military Region from January 2009 to January 2011 were randomly divided into intervention group and control group. The patients of control group were received conventional care, while the patients of intervention group were given nursing intervention on the basis of the routine care.ADL scores and the incidence rate of complications were compared between the two groups. Results Before the treatment,no statistically significant difference was found in ADL scores between the two groups. After 2 weeks,3 months and 6 months of nursing intervention,ADL score of intervention group was significantly higher than that of control group. The incidence rate of complications in intervention group was 13.89%,which was significantly lower than that of control group(36.1%)(P0.05). Conclusion Nursing intervention plays an important role in improving the quality of life of elderly stroke patients.
