Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of apoptotic inhibitive factor survivin in the tissue and serum of colorectal carcinoma and its relationship with the clinic pathological factors, and evaluate the significance of survivin in predicting the prognosis of colorectal carcinoma. Methods:Survivin expressions in tumor tissue and serum of the 31 patients with colorectal carcinoma were detected by using real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RQRT-PCR)technique,the adjacent normal tissues of same cases and 13 non-tumor colorectal neoplasms also been detected simultaneously. And the relationship among survivin with clinicopathological factors and prognosis were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The expression of survivin mRNA was detected in a significantly greater proportion of colorectal carcinoma samples than that in adjacent normal colorectal tissues(P0.01).But there was no relationship between survivin mRNA expression in colorectal carcinomas and other clinicopathological factors such as age, sex, tumor size, lymph node metastasis and Dukes stage. But the survivin expression of the cases with lymph node and distant metastasis in serum was observed significantly higher than those without metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion:Survivin may play a pivotal role in the progression of colorectal tumor by inhibiting apoptosis of colorectal tumor cells and also may provide an important prognostic implication for colorectal carcinomas.
